Well, I took this other job because the deal was if I took that job, it might lead to another job somewhere nice and sunny.
But after about a year and a half, the company that I worked for decided to make a bunch of jobs go away, including mine.
So I drifted. West, more or less, and south. To somewhere sunny. With mountains and deserts and such.
That's the easy part to explain. How I got back here is beyond explanation, really.
In the last three or so years I've accumulated two jobs, a beautiful lady, and a dog. That's why I don't do "Get a Life Trivia" anymore. I finally got a life.
Anyway, it's good to be back!

I'm Still Here.
I think checking in twice a year is enough, right?
Let's see, what has happened since my birthday? Hmm...
I've seen lots and lots and lots of doctors. They pass me around like a doobie.
I've lost 15 pounds, but don't worry, it was on purpose.
I got engaged. One wonders if that would have happened, had I not lost the 15 pounds. There will not be a big wedding. We'll probably sneak off to Vegas some weekend and come back hitched. No one will even notice.
I visited the mountains, the desert, and the beach.
I got my first tan since 1996, I think.
I actually wrote something here.
Yup, that's about it. Guess I'll talk to you in five months or so!

Happy Birthday To Me. Ouch.
Ever have one of THOSE weekends? You know, the kind that makes you feel relieved to go back to work on Monday? That's how I celebrated my birthday this weekend. I feel safe now that I'm back in Today's Corporate Workplace, where nobody is likely to buy me a shot. My liver has made clear that it does not want any more until next weekend, kthxbai.
Although, pre-game festivities aside, TODAY is my actual birthday. I'm pretty sure tonight someone is going to buy me pitchers, not shots. Pitchers are far less dangerous. And much easier to share.
I wonder if this is the year they put me on the AARP mailing list?
